They all work just about the same, whether they are free or you buy them in the store. But in order to have them protect you, you must make sure to update it so you get the lastest protection, run weekly scans, and be wary of what sites you go to and what you download.

I have a great program for you. Its called E-Trust Anti-Virus and it is free through roadrunner and about 100 dollars in a store.
I will be brutally honest with you. If you have had Virusburst (a Smitfraud infection) 3 times now, I suspect it is a case of PEBKAC (google it). Most people go a whole life-time without their computer getting infected with VirusBurst even ONCE!
There is NO anti-malware software(S) that can protect 100% against all infections. This is especially true of Smitfraud in which new variants are released several times a day to avoid detection by anti-virus programs etc.
