Multiple Anti-virus/spyware programs?

When my computer recently was attacked by a backdoor virus, I wound up installing SUPERAntispyware and AVGAntiSpyware, plus my previous Ad-Aware. Does having this many decrease efficiency? AVG was the one that finally caught the virus, SUPER got some that Ad-Aware didn't, and besides all that, my Kaspersky license key is up and if I renew it that might be better than the others or it might not, so any suggestions?

You can have multiple anti-spyware apps install on your pc but you should only have one anti-virus app. Having more than one anti-spyware apps will help catch all spywares that the other apps missed. Not the same for anti-virus. If you have more than one anti-virus app it may crash your pc or worse. Kaspersky is an excellent anti-virus app if you want to use it. You can also try the free Avira Antivir PE here http://www.free-av.com/ . Try it out to see which you like better. Make sure you uninstall Kaspersky before install Avira. I don't recomend AVG anti-virus becuase it just not a very good scanner. You've got nothing to loose by trying Avira, except time.

It's better to buy one good anti virus programme, a really good one, so that you don't have to have all 3.
