Can a virus hinder you from downloading an anti-virus sofware?

i've been trying to remove this virus from our computer because it keeps popping out everytime i use yahoo messenger. i heard about AVG so i tried to access it. but, to my disappointment, it automatically closes before i could even read it and i can't figure out why.

HELP!

i'm gonna be busted for sure if i don't fix this now!

Yes it can.....so do this

download avgfree on a working computer

copy the install file to a flash drive

start the virus computer in safe mode with networking (F8 when you power it on).

once virus pc is up, plug in flash drive, install avgfree.

do ALL avgfree updates.

do full scan.

restart in normal mode.

scan again.

see if virus gone.

I use these programs to clean friends computers.

It helps speed up the system and usually

works every time unless there is some very unusual virus on the system.

They are all free programs.
