My laptop recently got screwed by a virus. now i'm trying to find the best antivirus software known today.
Could you kindly reccomend the best antivirus software that you know of and why you reccomend it?

Hands down the best is kaspersky you can download it free from their site, and then when the trial period runs out buy it on ebay cheep! Kaspersky will get and keep anything off! It's great!

It all depends on your decision and software that you trust most. But personally I recommend AVG. I am using AVG Antivirus Free Edition. AVG updates daily and Email Scanner, Automatic Complete Scan (Time Setting by your decision) Allowing daily scan virus or trojans horse or worm will easy to pick up. AVG daily does option if daily scan does not start- when computer startsup AVG Scan will start automatic.
Good Judgement is key to prevent virus or trojan horse or worm coming in.
