Why was anti-virus protection taken off before norton was in place. I have viruses should be given f

I have several high security level issues on my computer since I have no virus protection. I contacted SBC and was told that Norton is having a problem loading. Heck I know that because when you try to load it tells you it won't be available until 12/15/08 at 12:25 or something like that. It has been a big inconvenience to me not to send e-mails and some other things I normally do. I think subscribers should be given a month or 2 free service.

Install one (and only one) of these antivirus, and run a deep scan; quarantine everything it finds:

Avira AntiVir PE Classic: http://www.free-av.com/

Avast 4 Home Edition: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-...

Install a good firewall. I suggest Comodo Firewall Pro v2.4 for Win2K and XP, and Zone Alarm for all others:

Comodo Firewall Pro v2.4: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Zone Alarm: http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/c...

Download, update and run:

Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Spyware Doctor Start Edition: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Spyware_Doctor...

And when Norton does come around, tell them to kiss your a**, 'cos you don't need them.
