i downloaded a add for a spyware/antivirus and i think it GAVE some virus' to my computer. and now when ever i open my computer security alerts FROM the bootleg antivirus scare the crap out of me. it says i have a trojan virus but i run yahoo spyware and it says i dont have anything. HELP HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following linkhttp://www.computeractive.co.uk/. On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

you got spyware, combat it on all fronts by all means

first off, never ever trust pop up ads period- they just do the exact opposite of what they promise to do. second off, it's probably ridiculous. you have nothing on there and just delete the bootleg anti spyware. Run real anti spyware on the site that the guy above me mentioned. you should be fine.
Avast is good and free. If you downloaded the software from an ad, it probably did give you ad-ware, spy-ware, and god knows what else.
