it reckoned that it detected a staggering 84 worm signitures and 2 other viruses.i scan on a regular basis, i update the virus check every day, it's always running and i rarely download anything. how could this have happened. do you think that a firewall could have caused this, even if it was installed from a secure sauce?

It seems that your antivirus program isn't very good, not working, or it's not up-to-date. Check TrenMicro's Housecall website to scan your pc. It also, wouldn't hurt to install a free antivirus program called AVG. Check the links below.
probably from cookies and things like that. many people do not realize that alot of cookies get classified as viruses since they record information. not big info though...just basic stuff usually for advertising purposes.
