It doesn't appear in my add/delete folder and it's trying to tell me my computer is infected with everything you can think of . They're wanting me to purchase their product. The icon is on my start screen but I can only send it to the recycle bin that way.

Edit: Ignore the thumbs-down. The answer given by Charley and myself is a *proven* method for removing XPAntivirus, which is obviously a real rogue. Anyone who even mentions Windows XP in relation to XPAntivirus *obviously* doesn't know anything about it.

Choose one of the three locations to download it from.
my suggestion to you would be this:go and buy either kaspersky or trends-micro 2008 pro.install as soon as you turn on your computer.both start working as soon as you install and i think that is probably the only way that you are going to get rid of whatever it is you got.make sure to scan for root kits and when it comes to deleting the virus,PAY ATTENTION,cause it sounds like the way it has attached itself it will delete whatever file or files it is attached to.hopefully, you are running with a standard user account and not your administrator because if not,the probability of it infecting your system files is very real.be careful, man.if at all possible, quarrentine the infected files first and see if they can be cleaned.

uninstall it.
