How do I stop anti virus popups?

I am a pretty advanced computer technician but I can't seem to stop this. Ironically the adware is an adware advertisement! I deleted it from the registry and add/remove programs. I used spybot search and destroy. I can't seem to get rid of this. I am also getting virus alerts on the taskbar. I am currently using windows vista home basic.

It seems you have done the basic things already so now it's time for the most powerful tool. Get HijackThis. But be very careful about what you remove it will find both legitimate and malicious software.

You can also post your results and check with the online community so they can determine what your exact problem is.

I don't even need to 'block' pop ups anymore!

It only took me about a month to recognise that 'Spybot' was worse than the virus! I program the AVG to run while I'm asleep %26 'as needed' with everything else.

Its a bit of a rogue!!

If you have a firewall, try to stop it updating itself and coming back. i reckon there is a file somewhere so try and locate that and block it or delete if you can.

I have had the same probs - it could be from some free program that you've downloaded.
