was told on another question I posted to check for virus before opening, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Go to the file that you have just downloaded and right click on the file. You anti-virus should give you an option to click-on and scan for virus.

And scanning for virus is a must before you open any file downloaded with Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program.

Remember that you are not downloading from the Limewire website, you are actually downloading from many different strangers computers all over the world, while at the same time these strangers will be uploading your files from your computer.

Download what you want and save it to your desktop- then right click on the program you downloaded-go to scan with Norton Anti virus. It will scan and give you the results.
it means before u double click on it in order to open it; right click on it and then choose scan

then the anti virus program will scan it and gives u a message if it was clean from viruses or not ... if not then delete it and try to download it again untill u find a good file
