I was under the impression that "FREE" meant just that, but apparently only for a short time. Got a message today that my "Free" virus definitions will be gone in Jan of 07, and I can than purchase another version for $29.99. Anyone else experience this, or am I missing something?
Question about "FREE" AVG Anti-Virus?nortonantivirus
I have avg free and have updated to avg free 7.5 there was no charge in doing so. There has been a lot of confusion about the pop-up that avg is sending everyone.
What avg is basically trying to tell you is....that as of January 2007 they will be discontinuing their free 7.1 anti-virus and that you need to update to the new free version 7.5
If you go to their web site you will notice that both the free and paid versions of avg are now both 7.5
Avg will not be charging for the free version....I know that because I have it...also if you go to their support forum you will read the same thing from an admn.
AVG free 7.5 will still be free.
Hope that this helps you!
Read this link I got it from avg forum this should clear up any confusion.

Question about "FREE" AVG Anti-Virus?spyware
AVG is JUNK. I recommend active virus shield. It is the best and it is FREE.
avg has been running for years for free, but now it's got extremely popular and quite reliable they have decided to make it into a money spinner(拢拢拢拢拢拢拢拢拢拢拢拢 signs in their eyes)
This is 100% true, you wil have to pay for the once free AVG antivirus program come the first of the year.
