What is the best anti-virus, spyware online scanner/program? and why do you think so?

i have had trouble with spyware, and occasionally a virus, and think trendmicro might be the best, but mcafee and norton are good too..i want validation of my thoughts of this. pinkrainbow

AntiVirus alone is not enough. While the bigger companies, McAfee and Symantec, are building out a total package, they've gotten pretty pricey for total coverage. i use avg antivirus, spybot and adaware, i dont have problems with virus' or popups and theyre all free
Use AVG Free Edition virus scanner. It's free, it's easy to use, it's updated regularly and it's not a system hog. It works like a charm...

For Spyware scanning, use Spybot! Seek and Destroy. It's probably the most comprehensive free anti-spyware program out there.
I've used AVG Free Edition Anti-Virus program with great success. As for spyware, I choose Lavasoft over Spybot Search and Destroy. In addition to AVG and Lavasoft, I also use Spyblaster. I've never had any problems in all except Spybot.
