Can anyone suggest a GOOD free anti-virus, anti-spy download..I need one bad?

I'd like to find a good free download for virus and spy removal. All the ones i've found scan your computer and tell you what's in your computer but then want you to purchase their product in order to remove the objects.....Can anyone help?

Get Spyware Terminator from www.spywareterminator.com and has included a ClamAV antivirus all free ( good choice and very effective )

Download the free version of AVG Antivirus from www.grisoft.com

There were many good recommendations. But be aware most anti-virus and spyware protection is out of date even if you get automatic updates. There are always new threats, and threats that are under investigation that there is no protection for. That is why you receive updates so frequently. It's always playing "CATCH UP!".
