I need free virus protection that doesn't suck and won't "free trial" my computer. PLZ

There are actually quite a few options of free anti-virus software out there. I'm not sure if any of these come with Spyware. The open source or GPL software will not. And panda activescan(which is a cool web virus scanner) does not. As for the efficency, freeware/opensource can and sometimes does compete with it's corporate counterparts. Panda software is a commercial company which also gives it's activescan away for free so you know you have the latest virus protection. It doesn't automatically run on your computer however, so it might be better to combine Panda with one of the opensource/freeware AntiVirus applications.
