Am I safe without an anti-virus program and firewall?

I've got Windows XP, and I don't have either. As long as I use the latest version of Firefox with AdBlock, avoid suspicious sites, and do an anti-spyware scan once a week, am I safe?

antivirus yes if u practice safe habits ... firewall no ... u need that definitely ..
First off XP comes with its own firewall, I would recommend using it for people who don't know their computers but yes you can be safe and use nothing. Although you have to be very careful, back up alot and take up alot of time on just maintance. You get very paranoid and at any slight sluggish or odd things happening to you computer you have to search through all your open processes. If you want to do this with no anti-virus here are programs I recommend.

Web browser: Maxthon 1.6 - Best web surfing browser I have seen when it comes to research and ad blocking. (first link)

Windows Startup Inspector - If you suspect your computer is acting odd or just slow at start up this program scans your registry and shows you all the programs that starts up on boot up. (second link)
